Summer 2013 MIchigan
Looking back, the summer at River Valley RV Park has been too short.
We have a few days left here to see some sites and pack for the road!

More pictures of the Amish quilts...close-ups, checkout their stitching!
I was in Clare, MI talking to my sister...ATT doesn't work @ the camp...o surprise, when I noticed an Amish buggy pull in to the gas station! Wow! Gas for the horses??? Nope, shade for the horses! Two men and two women "parked" their horses in the shade, walked across the street to The Ponderosa Steak House carrying a bag of sliced white bread. Date night?
Did you notice the blue and white plastic water jug just behind the first seat, on the far side? Refreshment for the road!

I woke to the sound of rain, love that sound but it makes the getting out of bed so tough! After crawling out of bed, then dressing, I trudged off to work. I am always happy to get to work after the commute across the dirt road. I've added a picture of the Store/Laundry/Restrooms located across the camp road from our location.
Rain this morning but now the temp is climbing to a high of 88...oh my! People are out on the beach and in the water frolicking. Sunshine has a way of drawing people out of a dwelling, especially when there is a beach on the lake! Running through the sand is more comfortable than running across jagged rocks to reach the water, would you agree?
I delight in going to the Amish Bakery, “Country Cookstove Bakery”. Their bakery goods are wonderful, especially the fresh baked bread, fried pies, pineapple cake, and much more. I am hooked on their Apple Dapple Cake! The ingredient lists apples as the first ingredient! Since there are more apples than flour or sugars listed, I am positive it should be on the “healthy dessert list”! So moist and delectably delicious, this cake is my fav!

Other items are sold at the bakery…the hand stitched Amish quilts hanging on a clothesline are remarkable. These quilts were hanging out one day when I made my visit. I always ask permission before clicking the camera shutter. I was told I had permission to “capture any image as long as an Amish individual was NOT included in the picture”. Therefore, you will not see any Amish Folks in my pics.
Enjoy the pictures!
